AI-driven answers with AI Mode in Google Search

AI Mode is the strongest AI search experience in Google. Ask anything and receive an AI-driven answer, with the potential to delve further with follow-up questions and insightful links to the web. AI Mode extends what AI Overviews are capable of with more sophisticated reasoning and modes of interaction. It breaks down your question into subtopics and searches all of them at once. This way, AI Mode can search the web to get even more appropriate content that aligns with your query.

AI Mode draws on Google Search's profound knowledge of web content, so answers are backed up by high quality web pages for the sake of increased factuality. AI Mode in certain situations will present a list of web links if there isn't high enough confidence in the helpfulness or quality of an AI answer. Like any early-stage AI product, AI Mode isn't perfect. When it isn't, we'd like you to provide feedback in the form of thumbs up / thumbs down so we can improve it even further.

We'll keep refining AI Mode, making its features larger in scope, enhancing its user interface and coming up with new methods of assisting users to access and interact with the web.

To receive early access to innovative and experimental features in AI Mode, sign up for the "AI Mode" experiment in Search Labs.

How AI Mode works

With AI Mode, you can pose any question and receive a thorough AI-driven answer with links to learn more. You can pose questions that may have once required several searches – such as researching a new idea or weighing options – and you can pose follow-up questions. AI mode employs a "query fan-out" strategy, breaking up your question into subtopics and searching each one at the same time across multiple sources of information. It then brings those results together to provide an easy-to-understand response. Learn more about AI Mode and AI Overviews in Search.

As with any early-stage AI product, AI Mode doesn’t always get it right. For example, in some cases AI Mode may misinterpret web content or miss context, as can happen with any automated system in Search.

How to double-check responses:

• Always verify key information in multiple locations. Follow the links for AI sources and use other Google Search results as well. Discover more about how to assess information you discover with Google.

• Ask several forms of your query to obtain the most helpful answers. Ask for alternative opinions or ask for additional information.

• Report issues to Google if something is not quite right. Your feedback assist us in making AI Mode better for everyone.
